Alex is a lab technician who joined the Laboratory for Brain Injury and Dementia in 2018. He graduated from Davidson College in 2017 with a B.S in Chemistry. During his undergraduate studies, Alex participated in an Intramural Research Training Award internship through the NIH under the supervision of Dr. Shyam Kottilil studying Th17 and Foxp3 T-reg cells in HBV infection. Alex then earned his M.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Georgetown University in 2018, where he studied the peripheral effects and biomarkers of severe traumatic brain injury and using antisense therapy to improve these outcomes. His skills in the lab include RNA/protein analysis, behavioral assays, and animal handling and surgeries.

Update - May 2021 - Alex has relocated to Denmark to pursue his PhD at Aarhus University!
